How a company secretary and mother found her way to the mat — and built a studio around the idea that yoga belongs to everyone.
Founder & Yoga Teacher — ACS, Institute of Company Secretaries of India
In Sanskrit, Rashmi means “rays of the sun.” For a long time, that was simply a name. Today, it reads like a job description: to bring light, warmth, and happiness into the lives of the people around her — especially children.
Rashmi’s path did not begin in a yoga shala. She received formal education and pursued a professional degree in corporate law, earning her ACS from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). It was a world of statutes, board rooms, and compliance — demanding, precise, and a long way from the practice she teaches today.
That training never went to waste. The discipline, patience, and attention to detail that corporate law demands are the same qualities her students now notice in every class: sequences that are carefully structured, corrections that are precise, and a teacher who takes each individual seriously.
Becoming a mother shifted everything. The question stopped being “what does my career need from me?” and became “what kind of life — and what kind of health — do I want to model for my child?” Watching a child grow is a daily lesson in patience, presence, and joy in small things. It’s also a reminder of how early our habits of body and mind are formed.
That’s why children hold a special place at the studio. One of our youngest students joined at eleven; her mother describes visible improvement in posture, weight, and even lifelong snoring — and, above all, a teacher with “wonderful patience,” because guiding a child is genuinely difficult work.
What began as personal practice — a way to stay grounded through the demands of career and motherhood — deepened into study, and study became a calling. Rashmi immersed herself in the wider toolkit of yoga: classical asana, pranayama and breathwork, yin yoga, and face yoga. Eventually the choice became obvious: trade the boardroom for the mat, and build a space where that toolkit could serve anyone who walked in.
Holistic Yoga Studio opened in Koramangala with a simple promise: no student is a number. Whether you arrive after spine surgery, as a senior citizen trying yoga for the first time, as a stressed professional, or as a child — your class is adapted to your body, on that day.
The studio now holds a 5.0 rating across 29 Google reviews. Students write about recovering mobility after surgery, finding relief from chronic back pain, calmer minds, better posture, and — again and again — about a teacher who notices, adjusts, and cares. Classes run in-studio in Koramangala and online for students anywhere in the world.
